Tray Erector

Boost packaging efficiency with automated machines

A Tray Erector is a packaging machine that automatically folds and forms cartons from flat corrugated blanks. It is often used as the first step in an automated packaging line where cartons are filled, sealed, and palletized. The Tray Erector ensures that every carton is shaped identically – fast, safe, and with minimal manual handling.

This type of machine is particularly suitable for environments where large volumes of goods need to be packaged in a short time, and where the goal is to reduce manual strain, improve safety, and increase efficiency in the packaging flow.

How does a Tray Erector work?

A Tray Erector works by automatically picking a flat corrugated blank from a magazine, erecting it into a finished box, folding the bottom flaps, and sealing them with tape or glue to hold the shape. The completed box is then transferred further down the production line, ready to be filled with products.

See our Model 5K as an example of an efficient and reliable Tray Erector

The process runs at high speed and is highly repeatable, which minimizes variations and downtime. Some Tray Erectors can also handle different carton sizes and can be seamlessly integrated into larger automation solutions, such as robots or filling stations.

Key benefits of automation in the packaging process

Using an automated Tray Erector offers several advantages, both for production output and workplace safety:

  • Ergonomic relief – minimizes repetitive work and heavy lifting.
  • Increased efficiency – fast cycle times and consistent output.
  • Improved safety – less manual handling reduces the risk of crush and cut injuries.
  • Cost efficiency – fewer errors, less waste, and lower labor costs.
  • High flexibility – adaptable to different carton sizes and line requirements.
  • Seamless integration – ideal for complete automation lines, e.g., handling pallet collars and palletizing.
